ANTARCTICA & THE SOUTH pole

CHOOSE CAREFULLY

The South Pole is one of the most unique goals you can set yourself. Arriving there is like stumbling across a station in space. Historically it has witnessed huge drama and endeavor. As a continent, it is outstanding and different in every way. And as a challenge, it is a mix of fighting the elements, enduring physically, and surviving mentally.

Few goals will give you a better read on yourself and greater satisfaction.

SOUTH Pole LAst Degree

The South Pole Last Degree is a truly wonderful goal and experience. Just to be able to visit the continent, to experience the same huge, harsh plains as Amundsen and Scott, and be among the few to reach the Geographical South Pole on skis, will stay with you for life. But, it is also a 12-day endeavor you have to prepare well for and take seriously. That adds enormously to the satisfaction you are left with upon returning home.

ANTARCTIC PREPARATIONS

You do not and should not take lightly on a visit to Antarctica. It is both a huge challenge and also enormously costly to visit such a hospitable place without any infrastructure. You most likely only get this one chance. So, you better prepare to the maximum of your ability.

We at Ousland Explorers have specialized in extreme preparations. Yes, we have the introductory ‘Polar Course’ that you find many places, but most of all, we tailor-make, instruct, and enhance the areas where you can make the biggest and most important gains.

SOUth Pole ALL THE WAY

To ski from the shelf, outside the continent line, plus minus 1000km in gradually higher, colder, ever harsher ice and snow planes, is a challenge unlike anything else. It is physically daunting, but equally, the zen-like, plain, ‘non-nature’ snowfields make these months an inner journey that will both strengthen and enlighten you. Together with tedious preparations and it all sinking in after the trip, it evolves in you for years to come.

ANATRCTICA other ideas?

Antarctica is filled with mystery, oddities, marvels, and history. It is a continent like no other with no border control, no police, no military – just an international treaty stating science is the focus and commercial exploits are no-go. Truly exceptional in out world.

Tourism and sports expeditions have managed to get sort of a nod, as this intriguing continent needs to be high on the curious list. We need to take an interest, see, learn, and engage in how to go forward to preserve as much ice as possible.

If you are not the man-haling type, but still want to go, see and learn, reach out to us and we will help and suggest ways for you to find your way there.
