Børge Ousland and Thorleif Thorleifsson set sail from the Fram Museum in Oslo on Midsummer’s Eve in 2010. Their mission: to become the first to circumnavigate the Arctic, sailing through both the Northeast and Northwest Passage in the course of one and the same season. Four months later they achieved their goal. In their tiny trimaran they had conquered stormy and ice-filled Arctic waters, completing their voyage just before the long winter closed both passages.
